Mini-Soccer at Under 11's - Season 2010/2011
The League has announced plans to develop a 9 v 9 competition at Under 11's. At its AGM in June 2009, the membership sanctioned the necessary changes to League Rules in order to pave the way for this initiative. The format of the competition is currently under discussion and input from member Clubs is welcome. The League feels that the provision of 9 v 9 at U11 is an a vital step in achieving a smooth transition to full 11 a-side youth football. Hopefully, this initiative will see fewer players leave the game at this young age.
Charter Standard League
THE Derby Mini Soccer League has become the first in the county to be awarded FA Charter Standard League status.
Representatives from the league were presented with their certificates at Derby County's home game against Doncaster Rovers last Saturday and secretary Steve Nicks was delighted to receive the award.
He said: "We are pleased to become the first league in Derbyshire to achieve Charter Standard League status.
"We are confident that CSL status will enable us to improve the service to our member clubs and to grow and provide improved support to the teams, their coaches and the referees operating within the Mini Soccer League."
The vision of the FA Charter Standard League Programme is to develop a comprehensive and efficient league structure across the country.
Derby Mini Soccer League is one of a few leagues in the UK to have been selected to achieve this status during the 2008-9 season, in line with the FA pilot scheme.
To achieve the award, the league must work to a standard set of criteria in order to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for junior football.
This means that all clubs must become Charter Standard clubs themselves and ensure that all managers, coaches and volunteers are CRB checked, have a minimum level of coaching, safeguarding children and first aid qualifications.
Registration secretary Mike Torrance added: "This award is the culmination of many years hard work.
"We are now better placed to continue our development in a close partnership with the Derbyshire FA."
